At Nordship in Kolding, Jutland, the focus is on class rather than quantity. This is also demonstrated by the new Nordship 43 DS, which impresses with its perfect boat construction, special room concept and individual design options.
"Our strength is individuality," explains Nordship shipyard boss and designer Lars Buchwald in the YACHT test. And indeed, his latest creation, the 43 DS, is also customised by his employees for use on Lake Constance or for sailing around the world.
The Jutland quality shipyard is also fully committed to the wishes of its customers when it comes to user-friendliness: The Nordship 43 DS is equipped with a reefable self-tacking jib. In addition, all relevant sheets are led aft to the helmsman's cockpit so that the helmsman can easily operate them there using the winches - a dream come true for many sailing couples.
As far as sailing characteristics are concerned, the Nordship 43 DS proves to be very good-natured. Even in wind forces of around 7 Beaufort, she is very stable on course. The trim is perfect, the windward yaw is minimal. On and below deck, the yacht impresses with its beautiful woodwork. The elegant teak deck is made of solid rods, the mahogany veneer below deck (standard) is varnished to a first-class standard.
However, quality also has its price. The customer has to fork out as much as 384,932 euros (ready to sail according to the YACHT definition) for the good piece.
